A Very Grateful Mrs. Armstrong

I was touched by the kindness shown to me during the Christmas season. You literally showered me with gifts and warm wishes. I received many gifts anonymously, and I want to let each and everyone of you know, how much I appreciate your thoughtfulness. May I say, what a privilege it is, to be the teacher of such an outstanding group of young men and women. You are awesome, and I am proud to be your teacher.

Christmas

We are blessed to have great parents that volunteer to make special occasions memorable for our class. Mrs. Farris and Mrs. Spadafora organized another smashing party. We were also fortunate to have help and support from other parents. Frosting and decorating cookies was a hit with our class members. Games and making snowflakes rounded out our day. By the way, check out the crazy socks!

Senorita Argentina

Our class has been following Miss Thomas as she travels through Argentina and Chile. Through her blog, we have learned about their ways of life, their foods, and customs. On December 9th, Miss Thomas returned home from her three month stay. December 18th, Miss Thomas returned to our classroom and brought with her authentic food from Argentina and Chile. After months of seeing pictures, and reading about their traditional foods, we were able to taste an empanada for ourselves. She spent the rest of the afternoon answering questions and telling us of her adventures in South America.

Our Superheros

The task was to create a superhero using the materials given. After creating their superhero they had two minutes to tell how the super powers can save the world. They received ten bonus points if they made the teacher laugh.

Materials

  • 1 plastic grocery bag
  • 5 mailing labels
  • 1 12-in piece of string
  • 2 clothespins
  • 10 straws
  • 1 balloon
  • 1 sheet of newspaper

Yeast Feast

Can a loaf of bread be like a scientific experiment? It can be. A special "thank you," to Mrs. Adams and Mrs. Lawyer. These ladies volunteered to be our chefs.

Greek Goblins

Our class traveled back in time, to ancient Greece, on Halloween. Mrs. Spadafora and Mrs. Farris, our room parents, organized our activity. We enjoyed games and yummy snacks provided by several parents. Armstrong's All-Stars are fortunate to have wonderful parents who are always willing to help.

The Great Sentence Caper

Each group wrote and produced an original script. Crimes were humorous and each character in the play represented one of the four sentence types.

Solar Ovens

We have an awesome bunch of engineers. Each student was given the assignment to design a solar oven that would melt a marshmallow and a piece a chocolate. The finish product was delicious and was enjoyed by all.
